The Sixth Grade will be working on two dimensional work this twelve weeks, such as drawing from observation, painting, printing, gesture drawing, cartooning, perspective and batik/tie dye. Three dimensional work will involve the creating and glazing of a clay piece. They will also learn about kinetic sculpture, and learn to make a project that has the ability to move or fly. Many multi-cultural themes are used as we see how our heritage influences the art that we make today. Students will always have the opportunity to explore and advance at their own pace. Maria Martinez, potter, and Mondrian, abstract artist, will be studied during the twelve weeks.
Class Announcements Opus Project: Oil PastelsThe sixth graders will begin the twelve weeks working on one of their Opus Projects, which will be oil pastels. After designing their name tags for their art totes, they will begin drawing a sea life fish or turtle. The drawing will be filled in with oil pastel. Our color unit will begin the 14th of December with mixing all colors from yellow, blue and red. One class will design an aboriginal painting, while the other sixth grade will make an Egyptian Mummy Painting. After the holidays, both classes will soon begin their clay project and then work on a paste batik or tie dye.
